Safari Fetiș is a guided toor of the Ferentari neighborhood, presented in the form of a performative satire which adresses the mystification of the neighborhood and the dehumanization of the inhabitants who live here. Over time, the media, authorities or social media have shaped the image of the neighborhood often through the use of stereotypes, exoticism and forced narratives.
For decades, the Ferentari ghettos have been viewed from a safe distance, with indifference and cynicism, even by those who should have addressed the lack of social services or systemic inequality. At one point, a deputy even made a map of the syringes, a project that probably expects continuity through a dusty drawer, just like all the promises from all election campaigns.
Another block is thermally insulated, another alley is asphalted, on the philosophy "painted fence outside, the leopard inside". Meanwhile, the children of 10 years ago who grew up deprived of any chance, are now adults, only good to point the finger at by the privileged world, to be included in anthropological projects and studies or to be used in statistics on anaphalbetism or violence.
Safari Fetiș is with and about people from Ferentari, with problems, dreams and joys, a slice of everyday life, spiced only with a touch of humor, in a kitchen full of customers but without a notice of operation.
